Circular Classroom, the social responsibility program of Walki Group has received an honorable mention in the education category of Fast Company magazine’s 2019 World Changing Ideas Awards.
The web-based, open access Circular Classroom is an educational platform focusing on the key concepts of the circular economy. It is designed for secondary schools and upper secondary schools, but offers tools for anyone to understand and discuss the circular economy. The content is produced by one of the world's leading circular economic ambassadors, Leyla Acaroglu, who has been recognised by the UN as an expert on sustainable development.
The project is part of the Walki Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme. ”At Walki, we want to play a part in ensuring that all young people know the basic concepts of the circular economy and understand the social significance of the phenomenon” says Leif Frilund, CEO of Walki. We believe that the circular economy will help us solve the major challenges of today and tomorrow. The better the understanding young people have of it as they enter the working life, the better they will be equipped to find sustainable solutions for the planet,” Frilund sums up.
The winners of Fast Company’s 2019 World Changing Ideas Awards honor businesses, policies, projects, and concepts that offer innovative solutions to the issues facing humanity. A panel of judges selected winners and finalists from a pool of more than 2,000 entries, such as Food, Energy, and Developing World Technology.
